California, Duhks, and the Kingdom which is allegedly united…

Dan Cohen and I just returned last night from 17 days on the West Coast. It was a hell of a run. From Hotel Utah in San Francisco to Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. (What’s the deal with “Hotel” named bars?).

We finished up the run with some of my new favorite people, The Duhks. Holy crap!! They are an amazing band. Even more amazing is what great people they are. They really took us under their wing (pun intended) and treated us with the utmost of kindness and respect. PLEASE go buy their record and catch them live when you can. You’ll thank me later.

Manana, Dan, Stephany and I will head off to London. Just two shows there, but the record is flying off of the shelves. We’re really excited for the Maidstone and London shows.

I’ll try and blog some details about the last few weeks as I find time. This “Mom & Pop” scene is a gigantic time suck. Check back soon.

Hell, check back late.

Off to the crypt…

    Hey Hun,
Just been reading your posts about the London gigs and how glad am I that I booked the Water Rats and not the Apollo??! Well to be honest I did think that “opening for” Pink Martini was a bit beneath you anyways!
If you get time to post back; any clue as to the set list for the Water Rats? Much as I really love the RR Album (FYI – it IS possible to wear-out a CD thru overplaying! LOL), are you likely to be throwing in any of your older stuff? (personally I’d love to hear you play “Angel Loves the Devil Outta Me”, “I gotta Have It” and/or “Everything I Want” ;o) )
    Anyhoo, enough of my wittering!
See you at Water Rats on Tuesday.
    Safe journey,

    Sue

oh, and as for “the Kingdom which is allegedly united”…. more like UNTIED – well it feels like we’ve “come undone” sometimes!

So, I just was on a flight from Detroit to home, here in the UK.
You were in front of me as we boarded, and I saw your name written on your guitar case.
Really wanted to say hello, but I’m not one for bugging peeps, especially just ahead of the red eye flight ( Oh, and I had a big hangover! lol )

Just checked out your site here, and am gonna do my upmost to get to your London show. I never knew about it, which will serve me right for never checking out people’s websites!

Anyway, if I had tapped you on the shoulder, I would have said ” I love the Red revelations, album. I didn’t, so have said it here instead!

    Ok, jet-lag..need sleep!
Have a great time in the UK!

    Hi Jace,
just got back from the Monto Water Rats gig – (a 5 HOUR DRIVE home, thankyou VERY much Highways Agency for the 6 sets of roadworks!)
What an awesome night – great atmosphere, even if we were packed in like sardines. Honey Rider were excellent – I’d never actually heard them before, and the icing and cherry on top were you and Dan, Jace, even with Dan’s “technical glich”, (A-HEM!! – you just can’t get the staff can you, LOL)
It was lovely to meet you afterwards too (and get my new copy of RR signed, after my car’s CD player wore out the other one I had thru overuse!) It’s rare to meet someone that actually bothers to thank fans for coming out to support them and I just wanted to say what a nice, genuine guy you are.
I hope that you do come back to the UK next year and hopefully you will have a venue a bit nearer my home in (not so) sunny Bolton, but where-ever you are I will be sure to be there.
Thanks again for an awesome night and I will post my pics up on MySpace / Facebook as soon as I get them uploaded
    Sue

Amazing gig, seriously. Loved every note. Lots of thanks for signing a CD for my husband (it was his birthday) and for letting me get a photo with you.

Hope you can get back to the UK for more shows soon!

I enjoyed seeing you and Dan at 2 of your California shows. Your music totally rocks- you need a set longer than 45 minutes! Put me on your mailing list for California and Nevada shows.

Do you take requests? My fantasy LIVE set list includes ALL of your tunes, but if I had to pick favorites- in no particular order-
    What It Is
    Your Man
    More To Life
    The Good Life
    Lean Into The Wind
    Bad Things
    What It Is
    Your Man
    Doin’ Nothin’ With You
    A Little Less Lonely
My current obsession though, is More To Life. Can’t get enough of that song.
