Jace's Birthday Contest - Last Chance!

We've had some WILD guesses and some REALLY close ones on the time of day and weight of the birthday boy - but no winners yet!   Almost everyone got #1 right (proof of the power of GOOGLE), but even goggle needs good information to give you the right answers.  So, here's a couple of clues that might help you use the remaining 4 days to WIN!

#2.  If no self respecting artists would be born before noon, would halfway between noon and the evening news, or noon and the nightly news seem more artistic?

#3.  Pediatric growth chart projections for Jace were 6' 5" and 250 lbs.  He's actually pretty glad he didn't realize either of those projections, but they might offer you a clue to answer #3 in the Birthday Quiz.

You don't have to make another purchase to enter the Quiz, just recalculate your answers and try again.

An Announcement About an Upcoming Announcement:

Hey kids,

I hope 2012 is treating you well thus far. It's been nothing but sunshine and rainbows over here, per usual.

So next week there will be a big announcement on this page.

No, it's not that I'm a cross dresser. Everybody already knows that.

It's more about "Mr. Good Times" finally getting released in the United States.

Well, I guess that kind of spoils the announcement. But anyway, next week you'll get some details here about how you can own your very own copy of "Mr. Good Times".

In the meantime, you can click on the  Mr. Good Times Video teaser... (look to the right) to get a taste of the joy to come!

G'Day Mate!

So here we be.... on the other side of the world. 15 time zones from the crib. The flight was long and sleepy. Astonishingly, all of our luggage made it with us. We are breaking new ground!

We arrived Monday morning in Brisbane and then headed to Sydney.

They have a cute little Opera House we had to check out. Pretty cool.

They also have astonishingly expensive food. As in, "Holy shit!! $22 for a chicken sandwich? Can I get a reach around with that? Or maybe some fries?"

Anyway, it's a good town as far as we can tell.

Dan and I did the local morning TV program. Surprisingly, they wanted us to play "Bad Things". That song sure is popular. We don't get it ourselves, but there you go.

I also did a little radio show with Kirsty Akers. She's a sweetheart of a girl and a spitfire. Kind of an Aussie Dolly Parton for these modern times of today. We performed a Neil Young song on the air. Apparently, it's Neil Young Day in Sydney. I have no idea what was happening.

Tomorrow we're taking a holiday and going to the Sydney Zoo. I'm going to try and ride a Kangaroo. I'll keep ya posted...

If you're about, be sure and come see us at the Basement on Thursday night.

Down Under....

Here we go kiddos. The band and I are all packed up and getting in the van. And going to the airport. And sitting in Coach for 16.5 hours. Did I mention the hatred for flying this band shares?

So with that in mind, all my peeps down in Oz need to get their asses out to some shows! C'mon now, we can't live on Quantas peanuts for 14 days! We need folks at these shows!!

For those of you unfamiliar with how web sites work, here's a direct link to the dates page:

http://www.jaceeverett.com/dates/

We're looking forward to it all; Kangaroo steaks, toilets running backwards, shrimps on Barbies (we hope it's Malibu Barbie), and of course, learning the language.

But seriously folks, buy a ticket or twelve and come see the big show.

G'day Mate!

Jace

Norway, My Heart Breaks for You

Norway is a place I have just come to know in the past 18 months. And I have come to love it. I am so deeply sorry for the horrible tragedy that has befallen you on this past Friday. My heart goes out to those lost and those left behind.

Be of good courage and don't allow grief or fear to change your great nation for the worse.

My thoughts are with you.

Jace Everett

Thanks Norway and UK!!

Another one for the books! This year featured lost luggage, flaccid volcanic activity, a carbon fiber guitar, multiple late-night trips to the Hounslow ASDA, songs no one has heard and even fewer can own, late night skullduggery, early morning TV buggery, and of course the unending mystery game of "what's that smell?" which can only be played in a Travelodge. Thanks to all the fine folks in Norway and the UK who continue to support my music by showing up and shouting at me. I feel loved.

'Til next time....

BMI Awards, Middle Aged Men, and Video Games

It's been a busy week! I received my 4th BMI award this week. This time around for "Bad Things". It's in this show called "True Blood" some of you may have heard of. So that was fun. I love obelisk shaped glass crystal so this was kind of a big deal... Also, L.A. has some pretty good weather and food. Also, a show I TRULY love, "Men of a Certain Age" on TNT, has been using "More to Life" in a promo spot for the upcoming season. It's always cool to get your music used in film and TV, but in the case of this show and "True Blood" it's extra cool; 'cause I really dig the shows! I'd post a link, but I'm having trouble finding one...

Things come in three's apparently. For those of you who enjoy the video games all the kids are talking about, you'll soon find a ditty of mine in a new advert for one of those. The deal ain't done, so I can't mention it by name. But let's just say we're negotiating the deal for a lifetime supply of Mountain Dew and Microsoft Xbox Live gamer points. Game on, son.

Also, there's a little tour coming up.... more on that tomorrow. But I'll be posting some ticket links for those of you not clever enough to read or use Google. I know it's hard kids. But try. Just a little.

That's all for now. I'm going to look into this sleep thing folks have been raving about.

Grammy Awards

Congrats to "Crazy Heart" and T-Bone Burnett for beating "True Blood" at the Grammys. T-Bone is always a dark horse in these scenarios and it's nice to see him finally get his due. Also, the RNC just endorsed Obama as their 2012 pick, pigs now offer frequent flier miles, and of course, world peace is eminent. See you in the funny papers.

New Year, New Tunes, New Shows, New Shoes!!!!

Hey kids, Welcome to 2011. Or as several Nashville area billboards are advertising, "The Year of the Rapture". Apparently, Jesus is coming back in May of 2011. Just a few days before my birthday. Which is really bullshit. He's waited this long... a few more days wouldn't be that big a deal. Whatever.

Anyway, with only 5 months left to go in this doomed temporality, we have decided to make some music! We'll be wrapping up the recordings we began late last year and adding a whole new batch for February. What does this mean? Well, hopefully it will mean a new "album" before May. Stay tuned as new music is likely to be "leaking" right here on this sight. It should take hours after that for you to find it everywhere else!

A couple of one off shows are added as of today as well; Athens, GA and Norfolk, CT. Details are on the calendar.

Last, and most importantly; I have changed my basic foot wear. This, undoubtedly, seems trivial to the lot of you, but I assure you it is not. I have only changed my basic footwear twice in the past 30+ years. Both times the world trembled. The first time I changed shoes I went from "kiddie shoes" to "big boy shoes"; ushering in the age of the personal computer, MTV, and trickle down economics- you're welcome! The second time I made a conscious deviation in foot wear, well, Communism ended. That's right, when I went to the boots full time, the Berlin Wall fell- you're welcome, again.

Invariably the "Changing of the Shoes" leads to seismic shifts in culture, politics, and economics. I hope you're ready for this....

Happy 2011, Old JahSay

In the Studio!!

Laying down five tasty slabs of musical greasiness this weekend. Stay tuned for behind the scenes baloney.... We'll figure out how to get these tunes to ya as soon as we're done making them right. Until then, try not to be a pain in the ass.

Nobody likes a pain in the ass......

October Shows

Hey kids, Doing a full band show at Hollywood Park on October 29th. We'll be betting on the ponies and singing for our supper.

On October 31st, Dan and I will be headed to the swamps of Louisiana with my favorite mouth breather, Chuck Prophet.

Old Charlie has put together what we hope will be an annual event: Faux Blood Fest!! (boo!) The two day event at the Magnolia Cafe will feature some great Louisiana musicians, some swamp rockers, and some of us knuckle draggers lucky enough to get songs on True Blood!

Check out the DATES tab to find out about tickets!
